14 out-of-print University Press of Kansas titles now online
The Center for Digital Scholarship has made available online 14 out-of-print books from the University Press of Kansas. These books, originally published between 1945 and 1953, are freely available as high-resolution, searchable PDF files in our institutional repository, KU ScholarWorks. The books cover a variety of topics in the humanities and sciences, and include works by University of Kansas and other regional authors, as well as authors who delivered guest lectures at KU. These titles are currently not fully available online elsewhere. Older scholarship remains of value for a variety of reasons; by digitizing this content and making it freely available online without access restrictions, we can help make scholarship produced at KU available to all interested researchers and readers.
The Center for Digital Scholarship is committed to helping the KU community explore new publishing models. In the past year monographs—new “born-digital” publications as well as scanned versions of older print books–have become an increasing part of our focus, and these 14 titles are part of a growing number of monographs hosted by CDS. In the coming months we will explore additional services, such as making available print-on-demand versions of these and other titles.
