Rhonda Houser is KU Libraries’ GIS Specialist. She has worked in this capacity for  eight years and with geographic information systems (GIS) for more than ten years. She holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Environmental Science. Her research interests include spatial analysis, open source applications, and ‘GIS-enabling’ historical maps and aerial photographs.Rhonda spends most of her time assisting GIS users on campus in finding and working with geospatial data, and developing and teaching integrated workshops for classes in disciplines ranging from Ecology to Political Science. She oversees the Library GIS and Data Lab, oversize scanning service, and special projects involving unique Library maps and data.

Marianne Reed is the Digital Information Specialist in the Center for Digital Scholarship in the University of Kansas Libraries.  She has over 26 years of experience supporting library, teaching or research technologies in library and IT units at the University of Kansas and the University of Michigan. 

In her role as Digital Information Specialist, Marianne has two primary areas of responsibility.  Her first responsibility is working with Ada Emmett to help ensure KU’s success in implementing KU’s new Open Access policy.  Her second responsibility is to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Center for Digital Scholarship (CDS) and to work on a variety of digital projects in imaging, digital publishing, and geo-spatial / numeric data with CDS staff and with faculty and student clients.

Brian Rosenblum is Associate Librarian for Digital Scholarship and is co-director of the Institute for Digital Research in the Humanities. He has administrative, production and outreach responsibilities in support of a variety of digital initiatives and publishing services. Prior to joining KU Libraries' digital initiatives program in 2005 Brian worked at the Scholarly Publishing Office at the University Library, University of Michigan, where he helped develop numerous electronic journals and digital scholarly projects. In 2003-04 Brian was a Fulbright Scholar in the Czech Republic, and a Keeler Family Intra-University Professor at the Spencer Museum of Art during the Fall 2010 semester.

Sarah Goodwin Thiel is the Digital Imaging Librarian at the University of Kansas. She holds a Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Missouri, Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts with a Specialization in Studio Art from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.  Sarah serves as the imaging specialist for a wide spectrum of digital projects underway at the University of Kansas. Prior to her current appointment, she served as the Digital Projects Librarian at the Spencer Research Library, the university’s rare books and manuscripts library. In that role, she designed and created digital versions of many of the major and minor exhibitions mounted in the library. Sarah is very active in the digital imaging profession and specializes in the digitization of special collections materials. She is a member of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) Exhibition Awards Committee and presents regularly on topics relating to digitization, collaboration and providing access to collections.


Mickey Waxman

Mickey Waxman has been helping KU students, staff and faculty with computing and research for years.  He started as a student employee in the KU computer center as a general computing consultant specializing in statistical software and helping people analyze research data for their theses, dissertations, tenure and ongoing research.  Over the years he has had occasion to be computer repairman, system administrator, computer lab manager and campus antivirus guy, in addition to providing statistical computing support for KU on all its campuses.
