KU Digital Initiatives is responsible for designing and implementing digital services needed to create, display, discover, store, and preserve scholarly information in a digital format.
Through standards-based technology, campus-wide collaboration, and external partnerships, the DI Program is helping to build a rich set of digital tools and resources that can be accessed through an integrated digital library system.

Digital Imaging
The Media Lab in the Center for Digital Scholarship (CDS), located on the 4th floor of Watson Library, offers KU faculty and graduate students specialized instruction, staff expertise, and access to state-of-the-art equipment necessary for creating and editing digital images, sound, video, and text. Media Lab staff consult with users on imaging standards and best practices and provide instruction and guidance on digital concepts, digital production and project management The CDS Media Lab provides training for faculty and graduate students on all lab equipment and software for the production of educational and research materials.

Digital Publishing Services at the Center for Digital Scholarship provides support to the KU community for the design, management and distribution of online publications, including journals, conference proceedings, monographs, and other scholarly content. We help scholars explore new and emerging publishing models in our changing scholarly communication environment, and help monitor and address campus concerns and questions about electronic publishing.
These services are intended to enable online publishing for campus publications, and help make their content available in a manner that promotes increased visibility and access, and ensures long-term stewardship of the materials.

Center for Digital Scholarship has the tools and expertise to help faculty and graduate students to manipulate and create multimedia. For conversion the center makes available audio cassette, VHS, DVD and Digital8 conversion equipment. Available software includes Adobe CS4 Design Premium and Final Cut Studio.
